It’s only fitting that rivalry weekend in college football falls on Thanksgiving weekend. There is so much to be thankful for this Saturday. Anyone that has ever played sports, at any level, knows the importance of beating ones rival. It cannot be stated enough how much these games mean. Even if your season is a complete loss, ending the season by beating your arch rival makes the next 12 months a little easier to live through. As for the fans; what could possibility be better than a refrigerator full of delicious leftovers and a full day of rivalry games on television? Go ahead…have that extra piece of pie and turkey leg on Thanksgiving. Just make sure you save enough for Saturday afternoon.

Cold weather, good food, great football…forks up!!

Ole Miss at Mississippi Stateole miss

We start Thursday night with a game known as the “Egg Bowl.” Since this game stinks worse than a carton of rotten baby farts that’s only fitting. This game should be moved off of Thanksgiving night or at the very least come with a warning…’do not eat large amounts of turkey and watch this game, you will slip into a coma.”

Oregon State at No. 13 Oregonoregon state

This game is known as the Civil War. Well, there was absolutely nothing “civil” about The War Between the States and there is absolutely nothing watchable about this game. Oregon has proved itself to be a paper tiger and Oregon State has proved that Oregon isn’t a big enough state for two football programs.

Georgia at Georgia Techgeorgia

If this game were hooker it wouldn’t have a single client. If it were a holiday everyone would still go to work. If it were a house that caught on fire no one would bother with the effort of putting it out. Some games, even rivalry games, should be played in the wee hours of the night and not televised. I give you exhibit A.

Arizona at No. 12 Arizona State arizona

Now we have ourselves a watchable football game. Both of these teams are fresh off of big wins against top 25 opponents. Arizona State may come into this game a little mellow, with already having clinched a spot in the Pac 12 title game. Arizona on the other hand could really improve their bowl selection with a nice win against the Sun Devils.

No. 6 Clemson at No. 10 South Carolinaclemson

I wouldn’t put this rivalry up there with the all time greats, but over the past few seasons this game is really heating up. Both teams still have a chance at a BCS Bowl and South Carolina still has a shot at the SEC Title game. Both of these teams were also on my chokers list to start the season. So which choker do I take? I just do not trust Connor Shaw or the South Carolina offense.

No. 2 Florida State at Floridaflorida

Finally a game that has a little meaning; even if that meaning is Florida getting crushed on national television, I’ll take it. Florida is one week removed from losing to Georgia Southern. Florida State is two wins away from playing for the national title. Even if Florida State quarterback Jamise Winston doesn’t play in this game the Gators don’t have a chance in hell of winning it.

No. 1 Alabama at No. 4 Auburnalabama

I am so thankful for this game. I am so thankful that Auburn has the tools necessary to beat Bama. There have only been three quarterbacks in the past few years to beat Alabama. All have been running, duel threat quarterbacks. Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall falls into that category. I’ll take Marshall, home field advantage and Auburn for the upset.

No. 3 Ohio State at Michiganohio state

I saved the best for last. Now, if you’ve been reading my picks for the past two years you know I never pick Ohio State games. I am a huge Buckeye fan and I tend to pick their games with my heart instead of my head. That being said, sure things do not come along every day. Michigan might give Ohio State a game for awhile, but the Buckeyes are just too talented. Add in the fact that Devin Gardner is the worst starting quarterback at Michigan in my lifetime and you have an easy win for the Buckeyes.
