Zig’s College Football Picks: Conference Championship Week

We have official arrived at the end of college football’s regular season. It’s amazing how fast the season goes by. Last week I picked all the rivalry games, going 5-3 for the week. That puts me at a gentleman’s 22-13 on the year. This week I am picking the far less exciting conference championship games. Why you ask? I have no idea. Aside from Alabama/Georgia, is anyone going to watch these games? I’ll pick the winners, but this is where college football and I part ways until the BCS games roll around in a few weeks. I watch every game on TV, every week, and even I have no desire to waste a whole day watching this trash. These games are about as exciting as Amish porn. I could try to talk these games up and make them seem sexy, but I would just be putting lipstick on a pig. Without further ado, I give you your conference champions.

Oink Oink!!

No. 16 UCLA vs. No. 8 Stanford

How old am I getting? I could have sworn I just didn’t watch this game last week. Oh that’s right, I didn’t. I thought I was losing my mind for a second. It’s nice to still have all my marbles. Anyways, I am going to use my magic eight ball for this one. Not to see who is going to win, but to see if I’ll go brain-dead from watching this game. Here we go…“outcome likely.” I think I’ll take Stanford because of their defense and skip actually watching the game. My health depends on it.

No. 12 Nebraska vs. Wisconsin

If you are not a student or alumni of one of these schools and you actually watch this game, you need to get yourself to a mental health professional immediately. This game offers absolutely nothing in the way of entertainment value. I read in a medical journal this week that instead of using anesthesia, they’re going to start using replays of this game to put people to sleep before surgery. I just hope I don’t need surgery any time soon.

Nebraska 24 Wisconsin 21

No. 13 Florida State vs. Georgia Tech

The crown jewel of the crap that is conference championships weekend. Nothing says champion like having a six loss team in your championship game. At least Wisconsin is there because the other two teams ahead of them weren’t allowed to be. If Georgia Tech is really the best the ACC has to offer, then it’s no wonder Maryland wanted out. I hope the Yellow Jackets win; it would serve the BCS right for sticking us with this god awful system for the past 10 plus years.

Florida State 42 Georgia Tech 10

No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 3 Georgia

Finally, a reason to get out of bed Saturday morning. Anyone that wants to bitch about the SEC better watch this game and get a little perspective. This game will feature more NFL ready talent than the other three combined. I think Georgia has a great chance to win this game. Their defense is playing lights out and this will be the best quarterback Alabama as faced all year. The last time I checked, Saban was still coaching the Tide. That guy is worth at least 14 points every game, and he never steps on the field. I like Alabama over Georgia, but not by much.

Alabama 23 Georgia 20

Bold saying ‘Bama will face best QB tomorrow after they lost to Johnny Football. If Aggie fans were as myopic as Domers, you might have to worry for your safety. Loved the Amish porn line.
