This week in Las Vegas, there is a reported sighting of a rare breed of dog.  One so rare that there have only been 11 confirmed sightings since 2009.  If you plan on attempting to take on this dog, please use caution because as of late, it has been known to be very dangerous.  For those of you who are not familiar with the dog I am speaking of, it is called The Buckeye.

As the Buckeyes travel to Madison Wisconsin to play the Badgers on Saturday, they will be underdogs in the Las Vegas Sports Books.  Currently Wisconsin is a 2.5 point favorite but I would be very worried about this if I were a Badger fan.  In OhioState’s 11 previous games as a dog, they are 9-2 ATS and with 5 SU wins.  The only 2 times OSU did not cover the spread as a dog in their last 11 tries, the games were played in the state of Florida.  I don’t know if it is the weather, or the more potent drugs but something in the Sunshine State has the Buckeye’s number.  No need to worry about that this week since the game is in Wisconsin.

Now I know there are many out there that think Wisconsin has a pretty strong home field advantage, which they do, but should it scare us away from betting on the Buckeyes?  Well, in their last 11 trips to Camp Randall, the Bucks are 6-4-1 SU but only 4-7 ATS.  One thing worth pointing out is that in 10 of those games, OSU was the favorite.  The only time OSU was the underdog, they won the game straight up by 17.

What about Urban Meyer?  He wasn’t around for any of these previous games at Wisconsin and he was only the coach for one of the 11 previous games in which OSU was a dog.  So what is the record of Urban Meyer coached teams when they are an underdog?  13-5-1 ATS with 10 SU wins.  Unfortunately we all remember one of those straight up wins when he was at Florida but that record as an underdog is ridiculous. The Buckeyes are coming off a bye week and with as many injuries as they have had, they definitely needed the rest.  The question is can they use the extra week to prepare for the Badgers.  Jim Tressel was notorious for losing games following a bye week, but he is gone so maybe we should take a look at Urban Meyer’s record after an open date.  In 15 tries, Meyer coached teams are 14-1 SU and 13-2 ATS when coming off a bye.  Based on these numbers it sure looks like Urban knows how to use the extra time to get his team ready. All of these trends support Ohio State as a strong play this weekend and if you are looking for a couple of extra bucks, fire in on the money line.  Right now the Buckeyes are +115 on the ML and the spread has already dropped by half a point so the early money is coming in on Ohio State.  Another argument to be made for a bet on the Buckeyes is the fact that Wisconsin’s best win all year is a 2 point home victory over Utah State in which the USU kicker missed a FG as time expired.I will be placing a bet on the Buckeyes to beat the Badgers this weekend but I am not going to do it for any of the reasons that I have already mentioned.  I am going to do it for the best reason of all, because Brett Bielema is a dick.
