I’ve played sports and been a sports fan for the majority of my life. I’ve been on both sides of a blowout. It never feels good to be on the receiving end of an absolute ass-kicking. One parent, in Texas, was so upset about their high school football team losing that they decided to file an official bullying report with the school district.

Aledo High played Western Hills High and absolutely crushed Western Hills in a 91-0 drubbing. That should be the end of this story, but it’s not.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that, only a few hours after the game, a parent filed an official bullying report. This will force Aledo’s principal to launch a full investigation into the alleged bullying charges. Are you kidding??

For the record, Aledo High’s coach, Tim Buchanan, started pulling his first string players at the end of the first quarter. By the third quarter Buchanan was playing all of his third string players but the score kept building. He also instructed his team to fair catch every received punt. In the third quarter both coaches agreed to a running clock. Buchanan did everything to slow down the onslaught of points being scored but Western Hills High (winless this season) is not a good football team.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram also reported that Western Hills coach, John Naylor, disagreed with the bullying report saying, “I think the game was handled fine…they’re No. 1 for a reason.”

I want to know what this parent expects as an outcome from the bullying investigation. Does this parent expect Buchanan to lose his job? What this parent does not expect is their child to actually be bullied when the report comes out with his parent’s name on it. Didn’t think of that, did you?

Instead of using this ass-kicking as a teaching moment, this parent decided to embarrass their child and the school by filing an unsubstantiated claim against a school that has better players. What are we teaching our kids these days? In the world where everyone is special and deserves a trophy, this is the end result.

Did I miss something? When did getting the shit kicked out of you in a game result in a bullying claim? This only furthers my claim that we live and work amongst fully functioning morons that live in their own private fantasy world. If you have made the claim that Millennials are entitled and arrogant pieces of crap, this is the reason. It’s not entirely their fault. It’s these “make life fair for everyone” parents that give kids an inflated sense of self worth. We need to teach our kids that life isn’t fair and if you want to stop getting your ass kicked then do something about it…work harder and get better. This is why kids who graduate from college expect a job as the CEO of Google without paying their dues in the real world.

When will this madness end? Am I the only sane person left in this country? We need to accept the fact that there are people in this world that are better than us in our sport, career, etc. To be truly great you have to work at your craft and always remind yourself that when you’re not working to be better, there is someone out there who is.
