Back in March, when I started this site, one of the first posts I had asked the question, ‘Is Peyton a Fantasy Football Option?‘ At the time is wasn’t quite sure. I had questions about his neck and what would happen if he took a solid hit during the regular season. I also called his receiving corps into question.
Last night, on the big stage of Sunday Night Football, Peyton Manning answered many, if not all, of those questions. In the first quarter Manning took a big hit from Jason Worilds, James Harrison’s replacement. Manning didn’t look phased at all from the hit and went on to throw for 253 yards and 2 TDs. I’m pretty sure that answered all of my questions.
After Manning missed all of last year with the neck injury he came out last night and showed that he still has it. Changing plays at the line of scrimmage, making tough throws and even showing off his speed. Peyton moved faster than I ever saw on a 7 yard scramble in the second quarter.
The only question that I have about Peyton Manning is if he can last a full 16 game season and into the playoffs, if the Broncos make it that far. It’s not a big question though…Peyton already showed me all I needed to see last night. If he can last through the whole season look for the Broncos to win their division and make some noise in the playoffs.
With so many questions still unanswered in week 1 of the NFL season, Peyton has answered all the questions that I had for him and the Broncos. Well done, Peyton.
