Local Radio Host, Scott Torgerson, Unfairly Suspended

Another rant from me…this time about local story that has caught fire. It’s going to be a long one because I am extremely passionate about this.

Now most of you know that I live in Columbus, OH and listen to many hours of sports radio every day. The local sports radio station is 97.1FM, The Fan. They are an ESPN affiliate and the flagship home of the Buckeyes.

The Common Man & Torg is the afternoon drive show, Monday through Friday from 3-6pm.  They are known for their irreverent humor, sports knowledge and commenting on anything from Pro Wrestling to Italian women with mustaches. They also interviewed President Barack Obama on their show. The show has been a hit since Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson were paired up.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, Scott Torgerson (The Torg) decided, in his hatred for everything Desmond Howard, to send a tweet that read, “I wish Desmond Howard would get fired or die so I can watch Gameday again.” With all of the ridiculous things that have been said on the air and tweeted by Torgerson, no one really thought anything of it. Unfortunately for Torgerson, that tweet started a shit storm that ended with him being suspended from the station indefinitely. The tweet was brought to light after Sports By Brooks retweeted Torgerson’s original tweet. Desmond Howard retweeted Sports By Brooks and then…

Kirk Herbstreit, former Buckeye quarterback, decided to discuss this tweet on his local show before a commercial break. Here is what he had to say…

To think that because, I don’t know what, I don’t know the reason behind it, but the tweet from an individual that works at the radio station was above and beyond, I think, what was acceptable, and is another example with Twitter of how things can be said, and things can be, “Oh I was just kidding, I was just laughing.”
Meanwhile you have a guy who’s, you know, not real sure what to think about that in Desmond and you have his family’s concerned about him and just some things that should not be tolerated and are just sickening. And there’s so much more I wish I could say about that but I’ll choose not to.Believe it or not, people that have a hard time understanding this, this would probably keep you up at night, but, former Ohio State players and Michigan players are actually friends. I know that’s a crazy notion to think about it. But Desmond Howard is a very good friend of mine. And I can look past the fact that he had the “audacity” to wear a Michigan uniform. And He’s a good man, and a great father, and a great husband, and does not deserve what he received with that tweet and what came along with it.
I just apologize to Desmond and his family that he had to endure that. And I’m really more embarrassed more than anything to think that somebody who works at an ESPN affiliate and works at our station has a forum to say such asinine comments. What the individual lacks in credibility to me he makes up for by just throwing arrows and rocks at people, and that’s his thing. And to me he crossed a line and that’s just totally unacceptable.

Okay, I have a few things that I have to say in response to Mr. Herbstreit’s comments. First of all, he said that there was so much more that he wished to say but he wasn’t going to…ummm, I didn’t even write everything that he said. He certainly said a lot and he just kept on going. Second, if Desmond was so concerned he could have called Torgerson and talked to him about it…on or off the air. Is Herbstreit Desmond’s bodyguard? Herbstreit also said that he was embarrassed that Torgerson had a forum to make those comments. Yeah Herbie, so do you. So does everyone…it’s called social media. He went on to say that Torgerson has no credibility and just throws arrows and rocks at people…way to just throw that out there, Kirk. I don’t know about you but I’ve never thrown an arrow in my life, anyway….This former, bad, quarterback lashed out with accusations and assumptions about a person that he doesn’t know but knows that he doesn’t like.

The truth is that Herbstreit has had a personal vendetta against the Common Man & Torg for quite some time. They have made fun of Herbstreit repeatedly on their show. Kirk heard them call him a “fake Buckeye,” a while ago and wasn’t very pleased. He was rubbed the wrong way and there has been bad blood ever since. This was the perfect opportunity for Herbstreit to take out a personal grudge that he had been carrying for a long time. The fact that Herbstreit would stoop this low is reprehensible but not surprising.

Sorry that people make fun of you…YES, even here in Buckeye country. I’m sorry that you’re so sensitive that you had to get the suits at the mother ship involved so you can show people that they can’t fuck with you. Whatever…find something better to do with your time.

Even if the radio station wanted to keep their guy, with Herbstreit and now the mother ship involved, it doesn’t look good. That’s a shame because I know Scott Torgerson. We’re not drinking buddies or anything but I do know him and he is a great guy. What happened to Scott was a case of a pompous, blow hard throwing his clout around. Herbstreit took out his grudge in a public, on air, forum. This sensitive little prick decided that he was so upset that he would do his best to get someone fired. Although he is still on suspension, if this results in Torgerson being let go, that would be the biggest travesty of all.

It’s a shame that people like this former, bad, Ohio State quarterback would use their influence to destroy someone’s livelihood.  What Herbstreit did was far worse than the comments that Torgerson made. The only difference is that Desmond Howard still has his job and Scott Torgerson doesn’t.

People say things that they don’t mean all the time. To wish death, disease or dismemberment on someone is a part of life. If you haven’t said it out loud then you’ve thought it. Do you know how many times I’ve said “I hope Thurman Thomas gets herpes,” or “Why can’t Chris Berman drive his car off of a cliff?” Torgerson just said, I wish he would get fired or die. It was an either/or proposition. It just meant that he doesn’t care what happens to him, as long as he doesn’t show up on College Gameday next week.

I hope Kirk Herbstreit gets gonorrhea, herpes and loses feeling in his face due to a weird fishing, bobbing for apples, window cleaning accident. Hey Herbie, could you tell that was a joke?! You’re a hyper-sensitive, untalented, childish, pussy…that was not a joke.

I could not agree with you more. I wanted to write about this as well, so I am very happy to see that you didn’t pull any punches. Herbie is a whiney, talentless, little douchebag. The Torg hates Howard for the same reason we all do, he’s terrible at his job. It has nothing to do with the fact that he went to Michigan. Watching Howard on game day is like watching a deer in headlights, if that deer had a speech impediment. I stopped watching Gameday a long time ago, and it had nothing to do with Desmond Howard. Gameday was fresh,. Going to the campus of the best game of the week was awesome, and Erin Andrews was hot (right Herbie, you old sailor you). Now, that show could not be any less interesting if it tried. They entire cast of that show walks around like they’re god damn rocks stars. Their ego’s arrive in the cities they visit days before they do.

If 97.1 The Fan fires The Torg I will never listen to that station again. I would say the same about watching ESPN, but as a sports fan, they have you over a barrel. There is no other game in town, so if you like sports, those mouth breathers are going to get your business. And they know it. Nice post, Mondo.

Joey October 23, 2012 at 10:07 pm

I’m a life-long resident of Columbus and a faithful listener of 97.1 for many years….Like many people, Ricordati and Torg’s show is my favorite and I completely understand and get their humor. Having said that, I will say that I have thought for a while that eventually their act would catch up to them. Lets be honest for a second. They are not journalists. They are two meatballs that entertain. And they do a great job at it. But at the same time, the way they entertain is to attack people personally. That pisses alot of people (coaches, players, GMs) off. There’s a reason Tressel never came on with them. And when you are a public figure, you have to be very careful. It only takes one time for someone to say something, and it only takes one person to take it the wrong way. In this case, the wrong person(s) caught wind of it and that’s why Torg is in the situation he’s in today. Don’t criticize Herbstreit for taking to the airwaves. He has every right to stick up for his friend/co-worker because it was during HIS show.

Steve S October 23, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Bravo! I find it hard to believe that The Fan values Herbie over Scott. Herbstreit proved long ago that he has nothing but contempt for Columbus and the Buckeyes. I tweeted him a few days ago asking him what made Howard such a valued friend. Of course he didn’t answer me.

Jason October 23, 2012 at 10:19 pm

If Torg goes to the Citgo, you go to the Citgo for me 97.1. I’d rather listen to NPR than a Common Man & TORG-less drive home from work. Let him live!

Tony S October 23, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Great article. Thanks for voicing my frustrations through your written word. I’m beyond tired of political correctness in today’s society. This crybaby mentality of tattling on somebody the second they say something you don’t like absolutely kills me and goes against everything I was taught growing up. It’s a shame that the very liberties that were afforded to us with the invention of social media are quickly being rendered useless.

Steve October 23, 2012 at 10:49 pm

I was really pissed when I heard Herbie had pulled this shit. It’s bad enough that we’re such a namby-pamby country that no one can take a joke, which is obviously what Torg was doing, but for a grown man to feel he needs to protect his little buddy from said joke, by going after a guy he has a grudge with, is pathetic. Herbie may think he’s being noble, but he really looks like a weenie at this point. I’ve always stood at for Herbie as being an objective analyst, but no more. I now agree that he goes so far out of his way to distance himself from tOSU, that he’s become a turncoat. Fuck Herbie, and that little gibberish speaking punk Howard. I haven’t watched Gameday in years now, and certainly won’t be again anytime soon. Torg is a riot and 97.1 needs to do the right thing and stop kowtowing to ESPN.

Adam R. October 23, 2012 at 11:49 pm

Thank you for saying this. For a no good QB, Kirk sure thinks highly of himself. GameDay has made rock-stars out of mediocre college football contributors. Desmond is actually the only personality that did anything in college, or the pros. Herbie is the “Ken” doll that is only there for looks. He is a hack, who’s voice has somehow become the conscience of college football. For him to get Bristol involved to ruin a man’s livelihood is sick. Its one thing to stick up for your friend and peer, its another to ruin their lives. Go to hell, Herbie!!

Stacey Diehl October 24, 2012 at 12:30 am

Yep. Everything THEY said. Desmond Howard has been used by Herbstreit. I really hope he knows his “pal” isn’t really morally outraged by Torg’s remark. He just seized an opportunity, that’s all.

Scott October 24, 2012 at 6:37 am

Wow, couldn’t have said it any better!!

Junior D October 24, 2012 at 6:57 am

Thanks for all the response. I’ve had reactions on both sides of this. I will say this…I don’t have anything against Desmond Howard at all. I do watch College Gameday from time to time and the show is fine. I do, however, have an issue with people hiding behind a “noble” act when, in reality, they just have an ax to grind. I know that Mike and Scott do piss people off but their show is more comedy and entertainment. They do have a ton of sports knowledge but the basis of the show is to entertain and make people laugh.

Bob October 24, 2012 at 7:14 am

Are you telling me that Desmond Howard was up all night worrying that The Torg was going to make an attempt on his life? Puh-lease. I have never heard such ridiculousness. And Herbie is a douche.

sara October 24, 2012 at 7:27 am

I still maintain it was unprofessional of Herbie to take to the air with his grievances rather than going to Torg or the bosses instead. He brought more attention to a situation that didn’t need it and he did it on purpose. Torg wouldn’t have been suspended if Herbie hadn’t gone on air about it. Pretty pathetic to get a guy suspended over a tweet that a) was made on a personal twitter account, not the 971 fan account b) was obviously NOT serious.

cam October 24, 2012 at 8:28 am

“You’re a hyper-sensitive, untalented, childish, pussy…that was not a joke.”
Outstanding, but you forgot careerist, tattletale, toadying Judas. I will never listen to 97.1 again after this nonsense.

Todd Greene October 24, 2012 at 8:31 am

(for real?)

As for the one person posting as many different people supporting Torg, you aren’t fooling anybody.

I’m sure Ricordati and Torg have an audience. Every city has some people who huff gasoline, watch cartoons and pick dead skin from their elbows, so for sure it is possible that they also own a radio and listen to Common Man and Torg.

Otherwise, I agree with everyone else that the Ricordati and Torgerson show is just a massive brown log that won’t flush. I listen to “The Fan” a lot. In fact I basically just leave it on that station all day long, but whenever those dunce caps comes on, I end up just turning off the radio. I’d rather hear nothing.

Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson have to be lying when they say that they graduated from High School. No way. Have you heard them? WOW! Their ignorance is shocking. It is as if they never attended High School at all.

And sports knowledge? Oh my god, they are lacking. I have heard those two dummies do entire radio shows based on their misunderstanding of something they read or heard. When you don’t know about something, you have a hard time speaking intelligently about it. They are so, so dumb. Did you know they fast forward through recorded sporting events and they call that show prep?

And why is it ok for them to dig up old jokes and material created by others and use them as their own? They repeat jokes other people created as if they just thought of it themselves. The industry is on to these hacks.

Now wishing death on people. Great. Real smart. Classy. We can all get behind that.

The only thing surprising here is that it took so long for that show to self destruct. The station took a chance on two people who are not actually “on air” radio talent and lost, big time. Hopefully the station can just get out of this nightmare by firing those two. There are a lot of other ways they might get stung here, so let’s hope none of that happens.
The station did nothing wrong. Except give those two trolls air time.
God bless.

John October 24, 2012 at 8:38 am

Kirk “He plays well in space, has swagger, and SEC Speed” Herbstriet lost his Buckeye card a long time ago. When he went national with his soap opera that meathead Buckeye fans drove him from his Upper Arlington palace, that was enough for me. Seriously Kirk, you are living in your aristocratic, redneck wonderland in Nashville – why do you care what a sports jock tweets? No one really gives two shits about your segment on The Fan where you simply repeat the same drivel over and over (see plays well in space, has swagger, and SEC speed). Your fake tan and frosted tips wore out their welcome in Columbus quite some time ago.

As an Ohio State alum, I have no problem with Desmond Howard or Michigan fans . Not all Buckeye fans are the “5%” that you speak of though they can clearly understand sarcasm on freaking Twitter. Why The Fan pays you a nickel for your diva schtick is beyond me. Additionally, it’s OK to be a homer on your entertainment sports network – every other talking head on that station does it, including your BFF Desmond Howard.

Herbie Hater October 24, 2012 at 9:04 am

Herbstriet ran away from Columbus when he couldn’t take the heat. Herbie is a pussy.

Mike October 24, 2012 at 9:19 am

Mike October 24, 2012 at 9:22 am

my question is this… if this was so outrageous, why has Desmond Howard himself not said word one about it? this is clearly personal for the EX – Buckeye.

Mike October 24, 2012 at 9:27 am

“And sports knowledge? Oh my god, they are lacking. I have heard those two dummies do entire radio shows based on their misunderstanding of something they read or heard. ”

Really? Can you provide an example?

“And why is it ok for them to dig up old jokes and material created by others and use them as their own? They repeat jokes other people created as if they just thought of it themselves. The industry is on to these hacks.”

Again, and accusation is simply an accusation without proof, then it’s fact. How about an example there… Todd.

Bob October 24, 2012 at 9:40 am

Kirk, please get over yourself. We have all seen you walk around like your a BIG Hollywood star with the shades and signing the autographs. I am so glad that you “flexed your muscles” in order to get the Torg fired. To 97.1 please bring Torg back. It is truly the best show ever on your station. And Kirk….please are you kidding me?? Give us all a break.

Let 'em Live October 24, 2012 at 9:59 am

Well said, if Torg goes to the Citgo, I am done with 97.1 as well except to listen to Paul Keels call Buckeye games instead of the horrible ESPN announcers that they run out there. Sorry ESPN, I just insulted you, are you going to have my internet taking away now? Herbstreit is the 2nd worst QB that OSU has had in the last 20 yrs (sorry, no one is worse then Bauserman).

Torg was just “Doing God’s Work”, LET EM LIVE

Me Here October 24, 2012 at 10:12 am

Whether you’re a fan of Torg or not – he’s not above the standards of professional behavior. Just because he has a show where he is irreverent and audacious doesn’t mean he is allowed to say whatever he wants about people with no repercussions. What if your daughter worked at the station and he called her something like he says on the show or told someone else at the station he wishes she would quit or die? Is that OK? No. Because despite his “humor” on the show he still has to conduct himself as a workplace professional. Desmond Howard is something of a workplace colleague for someone working at an ESPN affiliate. I think Torg he got exactly what he deserved.

Tony October 24, 2012 at 10:34 am

Torg’s comment was a bit out-of-line and I can understand a week off, but nothing more.

@Todd Greene: Name one local or syndicated sports show that is “better” than CM&T in the past 10 years?

Mike & Mike is a distant 2nd, nothing else is even close (though I do wish they’d talk less about wrestling).

Bill October 24, 2012 at 12:10 pm

Really save a crap show on a crap station as a resident of Columbus. The station blows and has for years now.Herbie’s bad Common Man and Torg are worse. It’s sports talk not Howard Stern.the comment on twitter should not have gotten him suspended but it happened he’s done in Columbus Sorry Torg

Chery October 24, 2012 at 12:21 pm

Bring back My Guy The Torg. I appreciate Circle K keeping his seat warm and commend The Common Man for not unleashing his true feelings on this matter. We don’t need experts such as Herbie thinks he is. We need 2 politically incorrect guys who know a heck of a lot about all sports and not just football. Again, bring back My Guy The Torg

Tony October 24, 2012 at 12:36 pm

@Bill: They are nowhere near Howard Stern (shockjock). Sophomoric? Yes. Shockjock? No.

Tony October 24, 2012 at 12:40 pm

@Mike: There are times they talk about stuff they have little knowledge of (Cycling, Soccer, etc.), but they are a mainstream show, I wouldn’t expect them to understand everything. They just don’t know when to stop at times.

I agree about the question to Todd. What jokes/re-used material?

Tony October 24, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Torg is gone. Common Man said something about only a few “know the whole story. Not even all of those in the station know.”. Not sure what that means? Is that code-speak for someone very high-up made the call? Or there is more stuff going on than just this one Tweet?

nathan October 24, 2012 at 3:29 pm

Couldn’t agree more Sara. Isn’t Herbie guilty of an even worse offense? Torg made his comment as a clearly SARCASTIC joke through TWITTER!!! Herbie made his remark ON AIR which actually LED TO HIS FIRING. The only one reprehensible here is Herbie because he saw to it that Torg either directly or indirectly ACTUALLY BE FIRED!!!

Steve October 24, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Plain and simple. The tweet was way out of line, especially the “Die” comment. What if some nut job out there decided to take it upon themselves to actually kill him? Would you still support their actions, supported their tweet?

Bob October 24, 2012 at 3:41 pm

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Do you really think that is going to happen? And if it did, do you really think that The Torg’s Tweet would be the difference between normal and bat-shit-crazy for the person that killed Desmond? Don’t be ridiculous. Any reasonable person knows that he was trying to be funny and doesn’t deserve to lose his livlihood over it.

Bob October 24, 2012 at 3:45 pm

If my daughter worked at the station and he said he wished she would die I would probably be angry but I wouldn’t expect him to lose his job over it. That is how reasonable people react to such things. The punishment should fit the crime and losing his job is like getting the death penalty for stealing a car. This sounds like The Torg is the victim of politics.

Junior D October 24, 2012 at 3:49 pm

I would still support his tweet but not the action. Obviously, neither I nor anyone at this website promote killing anyone. If you watch the movie Halloween and then buy a mask and kill a bunch of teenagers on October 31st should the movie get the blame or should you? Tweets don’t kill people, sarcasm never killed anyone. If you or anyone can’t see that it wasn’t a serious tweet then therapy is in order.

Steve October 24, 2012 at 3:59 pm

Too bad about the Torg. I hope he and his family pick them self up and get back on their feet quickly. I liked Common Man and the Torg together. They were like Bevis and Butthead talking sports. I’m not going to quit listening to 97.1 except for Herbstreit’s hour. As for Gameday, I gave up on them a couple of years ago. I would rather watch BigTen or Wendy Nix on the deuce for my pre-game football. The Gameday guys have just lost their edge over the years. Sad that they took the Torg out.

nathan October 24, 2012 at 6:08 pm

i don’t know. i just listened to the replay of common man’s opening comments today and it didn’t sound as though he was too worked up over the situation. he almost seemed unphased to be going in a new direction. if it were me, i would have done a little more to defend his former coworker regardless of the consequences especially because they are FRIENDS! i’m not saying he has to burn the place down but atleast PUBLICALLY acknowledge you believe torg has been dealt a great injustice. i would expect more from a true friend in this instance than to say essentially ‘oh well, it’s too bad. what should we talk about next?’ i know this has been ongoing for almost 2 weeks now and maybe the shock has worn off. i know i have no clue what is/was being said between the two off the air but if i were torg i would be reevaluating the strength of our friendship. that was just my take but listen and decide for yourselves.

to listen open in Quicktime on your computer or listen on you iphone to the following link.

ryan October 24, 2012 at 6:31 pm

First off, everyone who has commented on this is as childish and disrespectful as the original writer of this story.how umproffessional “forge” aS to write such an idiotic tweet. When u are a public figure, you have the responsibility of exercising common sense and refraining from making such classless comments. Nobody, and I mean nobody,is a bigger Buckeye fan than me,but grow up. Desmond played at Michigan two decades ago and herby is a true Buckeye, even if he doesn’t sleaze you by being biased and kissing up to the buckeyes every chance he gets. He works for ESPN as an analyst.his job OS to report and give opinions based on his expertise. If he wanted to be a homer cheerleader, he would work for the “fan”. People need to get a life. As far as the “torg” and “common man” goes,I’m only dossapointed both aren’t gone.I’ve said forever how horrible they are.their total lack of knowledge and mistating facts is unbearable to listen to at times. Their attempts at humor are awful.I’ve never once heard them say anything that even made me come close to a smile or laugh. Kudos to the “fan”. Hopefully soon I can listen to a much better product in that timeslot

Tony October 24, 2012 at 6:52 pm

Mike might not want to say anything publicly. If Torg’s new web page is to real, there may be an ax to grind and Mike just might be a witness for Torg.

Tony October 24, 2012 at 7:04 pm

@ryan: It doesn’t look like there is anything better if this is to believed….

According to http://www.thetorgshow.com...”You don’t become the 2nd highest ranked Sports talk show in the country if you suck.”

Management isn’t going to like losing the 2nd highest rated sports talk show in the country.

nathan October 24, 2012 at 7:18 pm

if you say so sports by brooks

nathan October 24, 2012 at 7:19 pm

oops not for you

Alex October 24, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Most of the comments are pretty standard. Slappy fans that apparently don’t understand that you must learn to think before you speak (or post on social media).

ryan October 24, 2012 at 8:10 pm

Lol. Second rated sports show in the country? Seriously? You’re a fool. And let me guess, you heard this from those two idiots ldude, common sense tells you better than that. All the big markets carry the top programs on sports. It’s not even a top 50, or the top on 97.1. It just gets the most listened to 3 hour spot of the day. You’re a genius lol

Eric October 25, 2012 at 12:13 am

“It just gets the most listened to spot of the day” – Meaning the most people are tuning in, right? MEANING IT IS THE HIGHEST RATED SHOW. Ever hear of Arbitron ratings? If they weren’t getting the ratings, they wouldn’t leave them in that most pivotal of spots.

You sir are a first class moron.

Romey October 25, 2012 at 12:34 pm

Haha ryan is a tard. The President of The United States calls the show, hasnt done that for any other sports show. I would say thats pretty damn popular.

ryan October 25, 2012 at 5:22 pm

Hey morons, the peice of shit in the whitehouse goes on radio shows all the time.he’s been on several this month, for your info. 3-6 is when most people are commuting from work, tuning in to the radio. No matter who is in that time slot,it would be the most listened tom timeslot u idiots. Maybe you can go work with them at the “citgo” like they rammed down our throats every 5 minutes.those morons didn’t know shit about sports and wasn’t a bit funny either

Tony October 26, 2012 at 1:13 pm

FWIW, the quote is 2nd highest ranked, not most listened to, so market size is eliminated from the quote. Ranking, I assume is based on ratings or a percentage of listeners. So, they could have a 80%, but that might be 100K listeners, were as a show in LA might be 50%, but have 300K listeners.

IIRC, CM&T once mentioned, on air, their listener numbers is was ~120k? 150K? Which is far lower that I would have expected, but I’d guess most people don’t listen to a) broadcast radio, b) prefer music channels, or c) prefer “news” (NPR, 610, etc.).

I read on another board it is the 2nd highest ranked non-syndicated sports talk show. That I can believe.

ryan October 26, 2012 at 1:20 pm

In other words, its kinda like being the second tallest midget in the room? Lol

Tony October 26, 2012 at 1:33 pm

Not really, it is being compared to all other local sports talk shows in every other market and came in 2nd.

The big thing they have going for them is Columbus is the largest (by percentage) sports market (according to a survey publish a few years ago). And they have a huge footprint that includes many rural areas (which is often prime sports/football country).

ryan October 26, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Lol.ok,I’m bored trying to explain this. If anyone choses to believe its the second biggest show on sports radio, good for them lol

Todd Greene October 28, 2012 at 4:00 am

Where exactly did you read that their ratings were greatt?
Probably a post by Torg. He always pretends to be different people online and he posts really positive stuff about himself. What a true scumbag.

They wish they had high ratings. They had the audience that came with the time slot. The next show from 3-6 will also be the highest rated show on 97.1 . It always has been. If anything, They were losing listeners that ordinarily would tune in at that time. The show was aimed at unemployed and glue sniffers. Normal people couldn’t take their gutter stink.

If you put common man and torg on at Neft’s time 6-8, they would have the truly crappy ratings just like Neft. This market is dying for quality local sports talk, now maybe they will get it.

Funny how whoever claims that Torg had high ratings can never provide a link to the source. In other words, it is total bullshit that they had great ratings. Absolute horseshit.

Torg isn’t even a broadcaster. Why do you think it took him so long to get on air in Columbus?

Don’t you wonder why Torg has been fired so many times? His “career” is full of failure and a multitude of firings. The dude is 40 and has worked in how many different positions in how many different cities? Why don’t you ask him? Nobody chooses to keep him around once they get to know him. Nobody.

ryan October 29, 2012 at 3:10 pm

Todd, glad I’m not the only one with common sense on here
