After another week of going 2-2, my playoff total against the spread is 4-4. At least I know I can’t go 2-2 this week because there are only two games to pick. We are getting ever so close to the Super Bowl and these four teams will be putting it all on the line for a chance to play for the Lombardi Trophy.

The first game on Sunday is Green Bay vs Seattle. Of the two games on Sunday this one proves to be the toughest to pick. Seattle is giving up 7.5 points and they are playing in that boom box they call a stadium. We all know how loud it can get in Seattle. The biggest question will be if Aaron Rodgers is healthy enough to be Aaron Rodgers-ish in this game. The second question is if Green Bay will throw to Richard Sherman’s side of the field? If they spread the ball all over the field instead of just the left side then they have a shot to win this game. On the other side of the ball, can Green Bay limit Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch to give their offense a chance? My opinion is that if Green Bay can do a few of these things the game will be close…definitely within the 7.5 points that they’re getting. That’s why I’m going with Green Bay and taking the points.

In the late game on Sunday, Indianapolis will travel to New England and play against a team that has continued to retool and has found a way to win every week. They’ve blow teams out and come back from huge deficits to win. Unfortunately, the Colts do not match up well against the Patriots on either side of the ball. Indy’s defense looked good last week against Denver but it was a Denver team that couldn’t move the ball through the air like they have been doing all season. If they decided to use press coverage against the Pats, Tom Brady will eat them alive. If they run too much zone, Tom Brady will eat them alive…do you see a pattern here? The only way that Indy has a chance to make this game close is if they get pressure on Brady with their front four. Sorry, but I don’t see that happening. The line moved down by a half point within the last few days but that doesn’t make a difference when I see the Pats winning by at least 10 points. I’ll take New England and give Indy the points because they’re going to need as many as they can get.
