Well, I am off of the 0-4 kick and looking to do some damage this week. Although my picks last week weren’t the best I’ve done this season, I’ll take a 2-2 week to boost my confidence. The spreads got me last week. I picked the winners of every game straight up but the Chiefs and Seahawks decided to let inferior teams keep the games close. Which leads me to my next observation….

Who are the fake and real good teams in the NFL this year?! I’ll keep you in the loop on this one but from my seats there are a few teams that have revealed themselves as mediocre teams in good team’s clothing. From what I’ve seen, and I watch an ass ton of football, the Patriots, Colts, Panthers and Bears are all fake good. If you’re a fan, just wait for the meltdown. My mission is to pick against the spread while dodging these fake team land mines and come out unscathed. Let’s see if that happens this week!

Let’s get to the picks!

Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins (+2.5)bengals miami

The Bengals seem to have things back on track after a shaky start. The Ginger Ninja is actually playing up to his potential and the Bengals defense is playing better as well. On the other hand, Miami started out on fire (3-0) and fooled everyone into thinking they were good. They have since gone 0-4 and sit at 3-4 on the season. Even though they have kept games close (except for the abortion on MNF against the Saints) the Dolphins have found a way to choke away leads in the second half of their last four games. Couple that with the fact that the Fins don’t have a running game to speak of, Brandon Gibson will miss the game due to injury and they are playing musical chairs at the left and right tackle positions in a short week before Cincy comes to town and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Look for the Bengals front four to be up Ryan Tannehill’s ass all night. I am surprised the Dolphins are only getting 2.5 points. In fact, Dalton just threw two TDs and the game hasn’t even started. If you own any Bengals players in fantasy football, start them all this week.

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5)

Philadelphia Eagles at Oakland Raiders (+2.5)WEEK 9 PICKS 2

I don’t know how the Raiders are getting points in this one. Chip Kelly has been deferring to his Magic 8 Ball to decide who to start at QB every week. Well, it looks like Matt Barkley will get the start this week. He hasn’t looked good thus far and it’s sad to say but Matt Barkley is their only hope. His four interceptions last week hasn’t instilled any confidence that they can cover the spread. The Raiders defense has been playing well this season (10th overall) and they’re only giving up an average of 89 yards on the ground per game. The Eagles, meanwhile, look lost on offense and their defense ranks 31st overall. If McCoy and the Eagles offense don’t get the running game going early they don’t have a shot in hell of winning this game, let alone covering the spread. Looks like Chip Kelly should be taking interviews with college teams any second now…wait for it….

Pick: Oakland Raiders (+2.5)

San Diego Chargers at Washington Redskins (-0.5)WEEK 9 PICKS 3

Vegas is considering this game a pick ‘em. The one thing that I will pick is that Phillip Rivers has a field day, along with Antonio Gates, against this poor Redskins pass defense. The Skins haven’t had many things go their way this season and look for RGIII to be as timid as ever after sustaining a left knee injury in last week’s game against the Broncos. Now he has two bad knees and only one quality WR (Garcon) to throw the ball to since everyone else has decided to continually drop passes throw their way. The Chargers should stack the box and force RGIII to make some plays through the air. This game might be close but San Diego has too many weapons on both sides of the ball to lose this one. The Redskins are a one trick pony but with RGIII hurt, it looks like they have no tricks left.

Pick: San Diego Chargers (+0.5)

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns (+2.5)WEEK 9 PICKS 4

This should be a snooze-fest. The only difference between the Browns offense (with Jason Campbell at QB) and the Ravens offense is that the Ravens paid their guys a lot more money to suck just as bad. The Browns defense ranks in the top 10 (7th overall) while the Ravens rank 16th overall. The Browns defense isn’t good against the run but that’s okay because the Ravens can’t run the ball. These guys always play each other tough and this game will be no different. You can expect to see a final score of 12-7. If you have to choose between watching this game and taking a sharp stick in the eye, I’d choose the latter. One thing that I will expect is the Browns to win this one at home, even with Campbell under center. Campbell won’t be able to get them in the end zone a lot on Sunday but he’ll get them in the Red Zone and set them up for about 4 field goals to win.

Pick: Cleveland Browns (+2.5)
