Wow, my Fantastic Four from last week looked like I let my son make the picks. I went 1-3 last week and I would like to thank the Bengals for coming through for me on Monday night. I don’t know what happened to me but I have learned a few things….First, I will never pick for or against the Saints again. No matter who I pick, the Saints always find a way to screw me. Second, I will continue to pick against the Steelers. They are terrible on offense and show no signs life. Finally, I will take the four games each week that I feel have the best opportunity to produce a winner. At the end of the day all anyone wants is to have a few picks that produce winners, right?

I am not going by instinct this week. I have done my homework and it’s time to go Sam Rothstein on my picks! Let’s see if I can make a huge comeback and add some Ws this week. My record through two weeks is 3-5 but I am confident enough that I will be 7-5 by the end of week 3.

Let’s get to the picks!

St. Louis Rams at Dallas Cowboys (-4)rams cowboys

The Cowboys have lacked a running game and have sputtered on offense through the first two weeks. Meanwhile, the Rams and Sam Bradford have looked very good through the air. The spread isn’t where I’d like it to be but the Cowboys are also 4-16 ATS as a home favorite since September 2010. For those keeping score at home that’s only a 20% winner. One of those 4 wins came in the home opener this season. All signs point to the Rams covering this week. Although I think that the Cowboys will win straight up.

Pick: St. Louis Rams (+4)

Detroit Lions at Washington Redskins (-3)lions redskins

The Redskins haven’t looked good to start the season. RGIII hasn’t looked comfortable and their offensive line has looked horrendous. Their defense has been even worse, giving up 33 and 38 points in the first two weeks of the season. The Lions have looked better but their offense is all or nothing. Also, since November 2005, the Redskins are 1-10 ATS as a home favorite after being the underdog on the road. They are only 2-14 ATS in that same time frame as a home favorite after a game on the road. With their defense playing poorly I think the Lions clobber the Skins.

Pick: Detroit Lions (+3)

New York Giants at Carolina Panthers (-3)giants panthers

The Giants and Panthers face off this weekend as both are looking to win their first game of the season. This is the battle of the best 0-2 teams. The Panthers have been inconsistent and the Giants have just looked awful. The one thing that Tom Coughlin will not allow his team to do is go 0-3, especially against Cam Newton and the Panthers. Since December of 2004, the Giants are 7-0 ATS on the road after a game as a home underdog. Even though the Giants look more like an 0-3 team than the Panthers do, at least the Giants lost to the Broncos and Cowboys. The Panthers couldn’t do anything against the Seahawks and lost to the Bills in week two. I’ll take the points again.

Pick: New York Giants (+3)

Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks (-16.5)jags seahawks

How do you get the Seahawks to stop fucking you? Just wait until their done. That’s what the Jaguars are going to have to do this week; just go through the motions and wait until Seattle is done dismantling their team. MJD is hurt and has been ineffective thus far this season. The Jags have looked worse than a Pop Warner football team in the first two weeks and their schedule doesn’t get any easier. Seattle is also playing at home which is a HUGE advantage…see last week’s drubbing of the 49ers. Seattle has proven that they’re the team to beat in the NFC this season. The fact that they are playing the Jags at home is the reason for the disrespectful 16.5 point spread. The Jags should be pissed about the amount of disrespect that Las Vegas is giving them. It won’t matter how mad they get because this Seahawks defense will score three defensive touchdowns this week and hold the Jags to under 7 total points. Add in the fact that the Seahawks are 14-3 ATS at home after playing a home game in the previous week and this spells disaster for the Jaguars.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks (-16.5)
