Let me first start out by saying that I am not proud of my 0-4 performance with last week’s picks. That being said, I went with my gut last week on a few of those. This week I will try my best to stick with the facts and stats and we’ll see how that works. My grand total for picks, so far this year is 5-7…let’s see if I can extend it to 9-7 with my special Thanksgiving Edition of the Fantastic Four!

Once again, before we move on, these picks are for fun. Don’t bet your life savings and then get pissed that some person you don’t know lost all of your money. Be accountable for your actions and if you have a gambling problem, it’s your problem. ALRIGHTY, let’s get to the picks!

Houston Texans (-3) at Detroit Lions

The Lions have been very hard to predict this year but I’m going to try. Their offense has been up and down and their defense has mostly been down. The Texans, on the other hand, have looked better this year than they have looked since coming into the league. Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub have both stayed healthy and their defense has been very good…with the exception of last week. Houston is also 7-3 ATS this year and they have posted a great 3-1 record ATS when they take their show on the road. Detroit is 1-3 ATS at home…enough said. I will take the gamble and say that the Lions we see on Thanksgiving will be a little down while the Texans offense continues their domination.

Pick: Houston Texans (-3)

Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys (-3)

The Redskins have been like the Lions this year when you talk about which team will show up. Dallas has been even worse with their dissappearing acts. Even though the Cowboys rank 7th in overall defense and  the Redskins defense rank 26th, both offenses rank in the top 10. I have a feeling there will be as much defense played as an NBA game. The other determining factor for me in this game is that the Cowboys are 0-4 ATS at home this year. I know this will be a shootout and Dallas does not cover.

Pick: Washington Redskins (+3)

New England Patriots (-7) at New York Jets

The Patriots showed me all I need to see from them last week. They will continue to throw the ball even when their up by 30 points in the 4th quarter. The Jets have no offensive weapons and  their defense has never looked worse. The Patriots are 4-1 on the road ATS this year and playing the Jets doesn’t hurt matters much. I don’t have a ton to say about this one but I think that the Pats run away with this one.

Pick: New England Patriots (-7)

Carolina Panthers (-2) at Philadelphia Eagles

I know I wrote about the Eagles and how they should keep Andy Reid, but I also wrote that this season is over for the Eagles. The Eagles are 1-8-1 against the spread this year. They are 0-4-1 at home ATS. The Eagles have been a mess this year but so have the Panthers. Carolina has been more effective running the ball which has opened up the passing game. The Panthers are also 3-1 ATS on the road this year so this one looks like a no brainer.

Pick: Carolina Panthers (-2)
